Collision near Blairmore results in fatality

RCMP shut down a section of Highway 3 earlier today in the Crowsnest Pass after a two vehicle accident left one person dead and several others injured. The accident happened about 4 pm at the intersection of Highway 3 and the center access to Blairmore. Witnesses reported the driver of a small car appeared to run through a stop sign and was hit on the driver side by an eastbound truck and holiday trailer.
Several people including small children were in the truck and all were transported to hospitals in the local area with undetermined injuries. Highway 3 is expected to be closed for up to 3 hours while RCMP continue to investigate. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
