The Calgary Police Service has issued Canada-wide warrants for Nihad Abdullah Ibrahim, 52, the suspect believed responsible for the shooting of his 58-year-old common-law wife.
Ibrahim is 5’9” tall, 180 pounds with a medium build. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Ibrahim is being sought on the following warrants:
- attempted murder
- aggravated assault
- discharging a firearm with intent
- pointing a firearm
- assault with a weapon
- break and enter
- possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- 5 X failing to comply

The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 am, on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012.
Detectives believe the woman ran from her house in the 600 block of Martindale Boulevard N.E., and was allegedly shot by the suspect while in the front yard. Several neighbours who heard the shots called 911 and emergency crews were immediately dispatched to the area. Despite the quick response, the offender had already fled the area before officers arrived.
The victim was taken to hospital where she remains in stable condition.
The suspect had been charged on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, with a domestic-related incident at the home, and as part of his release conditions was ordered to have no contact with his alleged victim. Despite the order, he was arrested on Sunday, August 12, 2012, after breaching the conditions by entering the victim’s home and making contact with her.
