Barry Carney of Simply Catering at Vista Village

^ If you live in the Pincher Creek area it's a sure bet you're already familiar with Barry and Sophie Carney of Simply Catering, and have (over) indulged in the fine meals they provide.  This week they gave back to the community again, providing a free roast pork dinner to the folks at Vista Village. Through no fault of his own, Barry tends to be the one in the photo, as is the case this time, but it should be noted that Sophie is otherwise always there beside him, producing together the hearty meals that have made them famous.  Thanks, Barry and Sophie.

The 2012 Pincher Creek Pro Rodeo kicked off tonight, August 16, with Team Roping.  Over 100 participants made for a challenging contest.  We'll have the results in our upcoming Rodeo Roundup, after the dust settles.

On Friday, August 17 there will be a Gymkhana, starting at 10 am.  The beer gardens open at 6 pm, and the Pro Rodeo begins at 7 pm.

Windyview Mechanical again donated  bikes to give away in the Kids Calf Scramble this year.  8 bikes are up for grabs this year, double last year's total.  The Calf Scramble will be held around 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday, right after Niki Flundra's "Freedom Reins" exhibition.

^ (above two photos)  Youth Employment Services held a hotdog fundraiser at the Ranchland Mall Co-op and an Active Living Workshop at Monster Fitness recently.  Their final summer fundraiser will be another barbeque at the Ranchland Mall Co-op, to be held on Thursday August 23, beginning at 11 am.

A big personal thank you to Jackie and Ray Degan
(shown here after last year's parade) for helping us move!

The gentleman on the gray horse is Eddie Jesen who was the #6 Incentive winner at the Thursday night Team Roping Jackpot. His heeling partner was grandaughter Nadine Jensen, taking home $250 each.
