Ranchland Hockey League reorganizes for 2012-2013 season
Chris Davis, Pincher Creek Voice
The Ranchland Hockey League (RHL) will be composed of 5 teams for the 2012-2013 season, including the new Pincher Creek Huskies.
Nanton, Fort Macleod, Lomond and Brooks round out the list.
According to a recent press release from RHL Commissioner Jason Hueppelsheuser the game count has not yet been determined, "but I would guess 20 for sure with a possible 24 as teams want games".
The play offs will be two round of best of 7 series'.
Those interested in playing or volunteering for the Pincher Creek Huskies are encouraged to contact Jeff Kaupp at jeffkaupp@hotmail.ca. A website for the Huskies is being developed and will be unveiled prior to the beginning of the season.
Commissioner Hueppelsheuser said the RHL hopes to rebuild its reputation this season. "This is a challenging time right now with 5 teams, but in order for us as league to make a stand on quality this is a great time and exciting time. Players from all around will be talking about this and should help with the fan base as well in some markets," he said. "May this be the start of the New Ranchland Hockey League! I hope you are all as excited for these changes as I am and I looked for to seeing you at the rink. Please if you know any solid players in your area to recommend that they play in our league if they want to play contact hockey."
