| Wanted: Trevor Norman John Legge |
Alberta RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in locating a suspect now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, and who is believed to be armed, and a potential danger to community safety.
Police are looking for Trevor Norman John LEGGE, Born : 1982-08-15. The soon-to-be 30-year-old is originally from Grand Falls, Newfoundland., but police believe he has most recently lived in Red Deer. He is 183 cm in height, and 79 kgs.
Investigators believe he may also be in possession of high-powered weapons.
Earlier this week, Whitecourt RCMP received a call reporting what was described as suspicious activity adjacent to a rural roadway. Upon attending the scene, police came across a collection of property along the road, later determined by investigators to be the makeshift/temporary camp of LEGGE, a person known to police.
Officers recovered two travel trailers and a utility trailer. One of the travel trailers and the utility trailer have since been confirmed by RCMP as stolen.
The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended to the scene and cleared the area, but LEGGE and any others who may have been on the site had already left. A witness told investigators they had observed two trucks leaving the area prior to police arriving, noting a red Dodge truck and a Green Chevrolet.
RCMP have been advised that LEGGE may have been spotted in Whitecourt last Sunday evening, operating a similar red Dodge truck.
Back on July 30th, 2012, Whitecourt RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation where police believed the driver was LEGGE. The vehicle failed to stop for police and subsequently fled into a rural location off the old Blue Ridge Highway.
Soon after, police located vehicle tracks turning into an oil well site and then leading into the nearby bush. As police were walking into the bush, following the vehicle tracks, the accused, believed to be LEGGE, attempted to run the members over with the truck.
The vehicle, a 1993 JEEP Grande Cherokee, then crashed into a tree and the driver subsequently fled on foot. Police Service Dogs and other police resources assisted in tracking the suspect, with no success. It is believed the suspect may have contacted someone to pick him up.
LEGGE is also a suspect in an ongoing Break and Enter investigation in the Whitecourt area, during which multiple firearms were stolen.
LEGGE is facing at least thirteen (13) charges stemming from these incidents, and more are pending from both Whitecourt and Red Deer. The numerous charges he is facing include:
- Uttering Threats;
- Possession of Weapon while Prohibited;
- Dangerous Driving charges;
- Flight from police;
- Fail to Remain;
- Possession of Methamphetamine;
- Possession of Stolen Property; and
- Resist Arrest.
Crown has advised investigators that the arrest warrants have been extended Canada-wide. There are also warrants for his arrest in Ontario.
Anyone having information on the whereabouts of Trevor Norman John LEGGE, are asked to call their local RCMP Detachment, police agency or Crimestoppers.
Pincher Creek RCMP: 911 or 403-627-6000
Crimestoppers: 1-800-222-8477
A reminder that the public are cautioned NOT to approach LEGGE, as he is considered unpredictable, armed and dangerous. Anyone having information on his whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately.
