At their Monday evening meeting, September 24, Pincher Creek's Town Council decided to allow the newly formed Pincher Creek RHL Huskies a break on the cost of ice rental time for their practices at the Memorial Community Centre Arena.
Councillor Sahra Hancock was the lone dissenter. She declined to comment on the motion, but in previous discussions about the issue made it plain that she thought the Town should be trying to recover their costs whenever possible.
According to the Request for Decision, the RHL Cowboys paid between $4000 and $6000 a season for practices and games. (The Cowboys are not playing this season.) The RHL Huskies are projected to spend $7,590 this season, with 22 weeks of usage. at $65/hr for practices and $110/hr for games. The projected loss in revenue from offering the Huskies a reduce practice rate is $2,970 for the season.
