Waterton is providing a sneak peak at how enjoyable the Red Rock Parkway is when the road is closed to motor vehicle traffic between November and April each year.

On Saturday September 29, cyclists will have the road to themselves on the Red Rock Parkway by participating in the 3rd annual “Ride the Red Rock” and “Take a Kid Mountain Biking in Waterton Lakes National Park!” events.

The event begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Pass Creek picnic area. The Parkway will be closed for all motor vehicle traffic between 9:00 a.m. and noon.

Participants can ride as far as their interest takes them, whether it’s the first few kilometres or the 30 km round-trip all the way to Red Rock Canyon and back.

There will be snack stations, technical assistance and a support vehicle offered by Waterton Outdoor Adventures. Helmets are mandatory for anyone under 18, and highly recommended for everyone else. We encourage children to come with a legal guardian.

After the ride, there will be draw prizes and a community fundraising BBQ provided by Wieners of Waterton.
