On Saturday October 20 the Pincher Creek Atoms 2 took to the ice, playing an exciting game of hockey against the Taber 'C' Oil Kings.

Taber was playing very aggressively in the first period, working hard to keep the game on Pincher's side of the ice. Approximately seven minutes into play Taber made their first goal of the game, following it up almost immediately with a second. After this Pincher stepped their game up a notch, making three shots on the Oil King's net, but all three were saved. The period ended with the score at 0-2 for the Oil Kings.

Taber secured their lead in the second period, scoring a goal with 13:56 left on the clock. The Oil Kings demonstrated solid skating throughout this period. They scored a second goal with 10:57 left on the clock, bringing their lead up to 0-4. The Chinooks scored their first goal of the game this period, at 9:31. The Chinooks worked to keep the pressure on Taber, but were unable to deny them a fifth goal, made with less than seven minutes left on the clock. Taber scored again at 3:24 left on the clock, bringing their lead to 1-6. Pincher scored their second goal of the game with 1:27 left in the second period. Taber scored twice more in the period, at 1:16 and at 54 seconds remaining, bringing their lead to 2-8.

Taber kept up their aggressive playing in the third, but were unable to deny Pincher Creek a third goal six minutes into the period. The Chinooks gave it their all this period, despite the gap in the lead, but did not manage to score another goal. A lot of great saves were made by the Chinook's goalie this period. Taber scored a goal with 1:42 left on the clock, and won the game 3-9.

Atom 2 Chinooks vs Coaldale Cobras

For their second home game of the weekend, Pincher Creek's Atom 2 Chinooks hosted Taber at the MCC Arena on Sunday, October 21.  Coaldale dominated the Chinooks throughout, being a team obviously composed of more experienced players, ultimately winning the game by a wide margin.  It was not all doom and gloom for the Chinooks, who are starting to gel as a team. With some of their players being very new to the game, they demonstrated a great deal of pluck, playing with determination despite the odds.

Atom 2 Chinooks vs Cobras

Goaltending by Chinooks #30 Christopher Leblanc was good, despite the score, as there were a lot of shots on net against them during this game.  Chinooks' #21 Abi Cryderman scored her first ever career goal in the third period, and got an assist in the second. Tristen Blood, who we saw in net most often last year, made some great strides as a forward.   #18 Caleb Evans scored the first Chinooks' goal of the game in the second period, and has come a long way since last season.   Also getting assists were Nico Charette and Colton Red Youngman.

The Atom 2 Chinooks obviously still have some work to do, but they're doing it, and I think they're just going to get stronger and stronger as the season progresses.

The Atom 2 Chinooks are still in the seeding round of play until after games scheduled for this week.
