The Heritage Inn was the site of the  2012 Pincher Creek Awards of Excellence, put on by the Pincher Creek and District Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber of Commerce Vice President Sharon Roberts kicked off the event and introduced Bob Westrop as emcee for the evening.  Bob told a number of entertaining stories and jokes and kept the evening rolling along.  He brought Deputy Reeve Bjorn Berg up to the microphone to lead the room in a rousing rendition of "O Canada".

After a dinner featuring roast beef, it was time to get down to business.

MLA Pat Stier
Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier addressed the crowd.  He said he was trying to get people to let him know what their concerns and issues are so that he can better represent his constituency.  He said that something he asks in every community is "What are you doing to stimulate business?"

Deputy Reeve Berg returned to the podium and extended greetings from the Municipal District of Pincher Creek No.9, and explained that the Town of Pincher Creek Council was having a meeting and unable to attend.  He told the crowd about Alberta SouthWest, highlighting the award winning job that they have been doing to promote communities throughout the area.

"We have great volunteers here, people that step up, great businesses that support the things we do here," Bob Westrop said in his preamble to the award ceremony.  "Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada.  I'm glad I live here.  You guys are lucky to live here too."

He then gave a jovial introduction to each of the nominees before announcing the winners in each category. He paused the awards partway through the evening to allow people a last chance at the many silent auction items displayed on tables at the entrance.

Chamber of Commerce Administrator Lieve Parisis once again deserves a round of applause for her work organizing the evening.  The Heritage Inn banquet room was full to capacity for this event.
