As they do every year during Fire Prevention Week, the Cowley Fire Department opened the doors to their Fire Hall and invited the community to join them for hot-dogs and hot chocolate on Wednesday evening, October 10.  The weather was less co-operative this year than it has been in the past, with a cold rain turning into snow dampening some of the usual shenanigans that have ensued in the past.  However, the event still drew a sizable crowd, the kids had fun, and friends and neighbors and future members enjoyed the chance to socialize.

Cowley is a close-knit, friendly community. The members of the Cowley Fire Department act like a large family, and in fact many of the members are directly related to each other.  I remember my own experience as a member of Cowley Fire with a great deal of fondness and respect.  These volunteers give freely of their time, often sacrificing, out there in the worst of it, dealing with whatever needs dealing with, whenever it needs dealing with.
