Nominate an employer who creates open and welcoming workplaces
Nominations are now open for the 2013 Alberta Business Awards of Distinction.
The awards recognize Alberta businesses that employ youth, persons with disabilities, and Albertans from diverse communities and support positive work environments for all employees.
“Alberta’s most important resource is its people. This is an opportunity to acknowledge employers who have made a difference by making a workplace welcoming and supportive,” said Dave Hancock, Minister of Human Services. “I encourage Albertans to nominate employers that help Albertans participate and succeed at work.”
“The Aboriginal Woman Entrepreneur Award of Distinction provides a great opportunity for Albertans to recognize excellence in business, and the great contributions that Aboriginal women make to our province,” said Robin Campbell, Minister of Aboriginal Relations. “By nominating an individual for this award you will help to honour and highlight the business success of Aboriginal women in Alberta.”
The Government of Alberta sponsors five of the 11 awards honouring employers in the following award categories:
The Premier’s Award of Distinction recognizing outstanding involvement, achievement, and leadership in Alberta’s business community (sponsored by Human Services);
The Employer of Persons with Disabilities Award of Distinction recognizing an employer instrumental in hiring, training and developing employees with disabilities (sponsored by Human Services);
The Employer of Youth Award of Distinction recognizing an organization that has done well in hiring youth and providing ongoing career opportunities (sponsored by Human Services);
The Aboriginal Woman Entrepreneur Award of Distinction recognizing outstanding leadership and innovation (sponsored by Aboriginal Relations); and,
The Diversity Leadership Award of Distinction recognizing organizations that embrace diversity and encourage respect while working toward eliminating discrimination (sponsored by Alberta Human Rights Commission).
The nomination deadline is November 23.
