A strong low pressure system will build into Southern Montana tonight pushing warm moist air up against the Rockies generating heavy snow over Southern Alberta tonight. The heaviest accumulations will start along the foothills beginning early this evening and will spread eastward through the overnight period. Expect total snow accumulations of 10 to 15 centimetres by Tuesday afternoon.
The City of Calgary lies on the northern most boundary of the heaviest accumulations however there is some uncertainty as to how far north the heavier snow will fall. As such, the City of Calgary and the Airdrie and Drumheller regions may be added to this warning in the future.
