Pincher Creek's Bantam Chinooks hosted the Taber Oil Kings at the MCC arena on Sunday afternoon, November 18. The two teams met in Taber the day before, and the Chinooks emerged the victor in that one by a score of 9-2.

The Bantams are on a roll this season.

In the first period of the Sunday game in Pincher Creek they proved it. At the 17:10 mark #19 Ethan Richards scored, assisted by #18 Emily Wittkopf.  Then at the 16:47 mark #2 Chaz Vance scored a long-shot unassisted goal that went through, off of, and past everyone and into the net. 2-0.  At the 13:22 mark Oil Kings #18 Carter Clarke scored a breakaway goal, bringing it to 2-1.  At 10:29 Chinooks #12 Whyat Bruder took a flukey long shot which bounced off an Oil Kings defenceman and in, to everyone's surprise.  3-1.  At the 8:05 mark Ethan Richards made good use of a pass from Chaz Vance to score with a nice straight long shot from side of the Taber goal.  4-1.  At the 6:46 mark Oil Kings #14 Ryan McDonald scored, assisted by #11 Blake Torscher. 4-2.  With only 46 seconds remaining in the period Chinooks #11 Jessen Luco scored, assisted by #28 Collin Lincez, and at the buzzer ending the first period the score was 5-2 Chinooks.

And that was it, as far as the scoreboard was concerned. The second and third periods saw two well matched teams working hard to no extra gains. Goaltending on both ends was truly outstanding, hats off to Chinooks goalie #30 Matthew Duncan and Oil Kings goalie #31 Trey Ross.  The Chinooks put in some overtime warming the penalty bench in the third period, but even playing shorthanded they held their ground.

The Bantam Chinooks are undefeated in regular season play with a 6-0 record.  According to the Spud League website (http://spudleague.ca) they are just behind Taber in the standings, but a recalculation based on this weekend's results should put them at the top.
