Football 101 with Coach Wayne Alexander to be held Thursday August 29

  • Friday's Senior Mustangs game cancelled

Senior Mustangs Head Coach Wayne Alexander will be holding a free Football 101 course for parents of football players and others with an interest in understanding more about the sport.  The first public Football 101 course will be held Thursday August 29 at the Ranchland Mall in the old Fields store location at 7:00 pm.  The course is expected to take about 45 minutes, and Coach Alexander plans to hold one later in the season for those that cannot attend this one.

A planned season opener for the Senior Mustangs this Friday August 30 has been cancelled.  It was to be against the Cranbrook Wild, but according to Coach Alexander that team has folded.

"I received a phone call from them last Friday informing me that they will not have a football program this year due to low attendance," said Coach Alexander in an email. "I am disappointed obviously that we don't have a game this week, but even more disappointed that the Cranbrook Wild are folding. I saw growth in their skill level since I first saw them play and was hopeful that they had turned the corner. Their Head Coach moved to Saskatchewan and that left the program in a bit of limbo. It is a similar situation to our situation here...but hopefully we will rise to the occasion."
