Cardston RCMP warns public of release of high risk violent sex offender

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, in the interest of public safety, is issuing the following information and warning inregard to the release of Keegan SPEARCHIEF from Grande Cache Institution on January 17, 2014, upon completion of his sentence, having served a 2 year, 10 month and 15 day sentence for Assault with Weapon (x2), Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault (x2), Voyeurism, Fail to Comply Probation Order, Fail to Comply Recognizance (x3).

Keegan SPEARCHIEF is described as a 28 year old, Aboriginal male, 198cm (78in), 86kg (189.2 lbs), with Brown eyes and Brown hair.

SPEARCHIEF has been convicted of Assault with Weapon (x2) (2011), Assault Causing Bodily Harm (2011), Assault (x2)

(2011), Voyeurism (2011), Break Enter & Commit (2004), Break & Enter with Intent (2004), Break Enter & Commit Sexual Assault with Weapon (2004).

The RCMP is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of SPEARCHIEF. The RCMP believe that there is a risk of significant harm to the health and safety of the public, and in particular, adult females.

Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action. Anyone believing that a crime has been or is about to be committed is encouraged to call police. If the matter is felt to be of an urgent nature please call 911 to report the location circumstances.
