A win and a loss at home for the Peewee Chinooks

Pincher Creek's Peewee Chinooks were able to split back-to back-games last weekend, on January 17th and 18th. The first game against the Fort Macleod Mustangs resulted in a substantial loss for the Peewee Chinooks. Luckily for the Chinooks it was only an exhibition match set up as a practice against a tougher team, preparation for an upcoming tournament. For the second game the Chinooks were on the other side of a blowout, rolling over the Kainai Chiefs for a huge win. Caleb Evans had a penalty shot that excited the Chinooks late in the third against the Mustangs but couldn't capitalize. The game against the Chiefs had some excitement late in game as well, when there was an argument between the Kainai coach and the refs, and then not that much later a Kainai player was kicked out of the game for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Chinook Trinity Tanner was able to score two goals against the Mustangs, one early in the game and one coming from a shorthanded breakaway. Trinity was absent from the second game against the Chiefs because the game against Fort Macleod was actually her last game for the season, having moved back to Manitoba until the fall. You'll be missed, Trinity!  The offence was picked up by a few other Chinooks players. Nelz Vance was able to score a natural hat trick with the last three goals of the game, and Tristan Blood scored 4 goals to lead his team in the win against the Chiefs on Sunday. Wes Krampe was solid in net for both games, facing quite a few shots in the game against the Mustangs and making some great saves. The Chiefs game was a little different, he didn't have to make nearly as many saves, but still was challenged a few times throughout the game.

The Peewee Chinooks will be participating in the Blackfalds B tournament this weekend, with their first game to start Friday (January 23) at 1:45 pm.
