Chinook Sr. Girls Basketball - Dragons defeat Blades

St. Michael's Dragons vs Nobleford Blades

Joey Jackson

The Saint Mikes Dragons Sr. Girls basketball team (which includes  Matthew Halton  Sr. Girls) continues to dominate early on this season, earning another win against the Nobleford Blades 49-24. This game was part of a doubleheader held at MHHS on Monday, January 5th. The Dragons have played well this year, only dropping one game so far this year against Kainai, and that one by only a single basket. Although they are used to playing against each other, the combined team has been able to create good chemistry.

Leading scorer for St. Michael's was Rebecca Lowry, who scored 19 points in their win against the Blades and also secured two more player of the game nominations. Jayden Kennedy scored 11 points, and Megan McGlynn scored 8 to help the dragons double up on the Blades. Nobleford's Taylor Holtorf led her team with 7 points and a player of the game nomination, but the team couldn't bounce back after the Dragons' obtained a huge 22-6 lead  in the first quarter.

The next game for the Dragons is away tonight against the Crowsnest Pass, but after that they will be taking a break next week for finals and diploma exams prior to the end of first semester.
