Chinooks vs Taber Oil Kings

Pincher Creek's Peewee Chinooks hosted the Taber Oil Kings in another nailbiter last weekend on Sunday February 15th. While the Oil Kings owned the play early on, scoring all of their goals in the first half of the game, the Peewee Chinooks were able to get their team back on track and climb out of a 4 goal deficit to tie the game late. The Chinooks also had to overcome quite a few penalties this game but that didn't stop them from being able to score two shorthanded goals.

The Chinooks had contributions from all different players to score their goals this game to have 4 different scorers. Michael Kaupp and Logan Deley both had a goal and an assist for the Chinooks, Cade Ames and Caleb Evans also scored for the Chinooks. Wes Krampe was in net as always for the Chinooks and really picked up his game in the second half, backstopping his team to help kill off 14 minutes of penalties. Byron Kress had a natural hat trick for the Oil Kings and added an assist on Braynen Kayes' goal, Kayes being the sole other goal scorer for the Oil Kings.  Final score 4-4.

The Peewee Chinooks suffered a tough loss in a provincial game on Tuesday February 17. They lost to the Claresholm Thunder 3-9 but still tried to put up a fight, with goaltender Wes Krampe putting in a particularly solid effort. The Chinooks just couldn't keep up with Claresholm’s fast paced offence and ability to force turnovers in the Chinooks' end and in the neutral zone. The Thunder's first period effort propelled the team to their win, their first goal in the first minute of play and a total of 6 goals in the period.

Logan Deley gave the Peewee Chinooks a little lift when he managed to score unassisted on a breakaway. After Logan's goal the team picked up in the third period, when Logan scored scored again, and then Nelz Vance added another late in the game, but the Chinooks couldn't get close enough to tie. George Wollersheim was Claresholms top scorer, putting up a hat trick and an assist. Tristan Martin also had 2 goals and an assist for the Thunder.
