During the regular meeting of Pincher Creek Town Council held on Monday, February 9 council unanimously decided to re-appoint former Mayor Ernie Olsen to the Economic Development Committee (EDC).  Olsen was unable to attend  the September,  October,  and November 2014 meetings and was automatically removed from the Committee as per policy. This re-appointment term will run until February 2018.

In his official "Application for citizen boards and committees" Olsen said he was interested in being a member of the EDC because "My heart is with this town and I think I could help".  He also cited his 10 years of experience as a business owner (of Sobeys and its predecessor IGA) three years on council, and 3 years as Mayor as his relevant experience.  In the category of personal goals and objectives he indicated he was interested in airport usage and town growth.  One of Olsen's initiatives as Mayor was an attempt to arrange the have the Pincher Creek Municipal Airport be used as a shuttle point for southern Alberta workers in the Fort McMurray oil industry.
