Pincher Creek's Midget Huskies are off to the final round of Spud League playoffs after twice defeating Kainai's Chiefs. They will face Bow Island in the final, with the first game on Saturday March 14 from 8:15-10:45 at Pincher Creek's Memorial Community Centre Arena.  The second game will happen at the Bow Island rink.  A third game, if needed, will be held in Pincher Creek on Tuesday March 17, from 7:00-9:30 pm.  The Huskies defeated Bow Island all four times the two teams met during the regular season, by a score of 7-3 three times, and by a score of 6-5.

On March 7 the Huskies hosted the Kainai Chiefs for the first of two playoff games.  The Chiefs fared better against the Huskies than they did throughout most of the regular season (with the exception of a 5-2 loss to the Huskies on January 16) but the Huskies still won 8-3.  Levi Anderson scored five goals for the Huskies, including being the only Huskies scorer in the third period, when he earned a natural hat trick.   Derek Tarcon scored twice for the Huskies.  Sam Gerrand scored once and also picked up an assist.  Also picking up assists for the Huskies were Jared Koentges and Colin Lincez with two apiece, Craig Marshall, Kieran Douglas,  Jesson Luco, and goalie Jeremy Kretz.  Yup, you read that right.

Scoring for the Chiefs were Jawon Iron Shirt, Shay Rabbit, and Tealson Smith.  Picking up assists were Brady Rabbit, Tristan Black Water, and Griffin Healy.

On Monday evening March 9 the Huskies travelled to Kainai, winning that game 8-2, earning their place in the Spud League final.

The Huskies have had an incredible season so far.  They won first place at the Great Falls Casey Cup. They won Zone 5 Provincials.  They won the Spud League Regular season, making them the Spud League 2014/15 Midget A League Champions.  Banners for the latter two achievements have yet to be hung.  On Thursday March 19 the team will head to Kneehill for the Alberta Provincial Tournament.
