Pincher Creek's Novice B Chinooks are moving forward after defeating Warner's Sabres in round two of Spud League playoffs. The Chinooks came from behind to defeat the Sabres 7-6 on Saturday at the MCC and romped to a definitive 9-4 win at the Warner rink on Sunday.

Saturday's game in Pincher Creek saw the Sabres dominate early.  They were up 3-0 early in the second period before the Chinooks found their feet.  For the rest of the second period the Chinooks made up for lost time, denying any further Sabres attempts and tying the score at 3-3 with 4:49 remaining in the period.  With 1:01 remaining in period Chinook Lane Conley scored to put the Chinooks ahead 4-3, earning himself a hat trick in the process.  The Chinooks scored again three minutes into the third, which was quickly answered by the Sabres, putting the score at 5-4.  The Sabres scored again just over a minute later, tying it 5-5.  Another goal for the Chinooks from Walker Anderson, unassisted and it was 6-5 Chinooks.  Connor Chapman of the Sabres scored his fourth goal of the game to tie it again 6-6 with 9:07 remaining in the game.  Talk about an exciting period!  The two teams battled it out to no avail until Jaydon Draper scored his second goal of the game for the Chinooks with just 1:59 remaining.  7-6 Chinooks, and that's where it stayed to the final buzzer.

Scoring for the Chinooks were Lane Conley (3), Jaydon Draper (2), Daxz Vance, and Walker Anderson.  Chinooks assists went to Vance (2), Maddix Dyck, Draper, Anderson, Jaxon Shenton, and Josey Wales Waterchief.  Scoring for the Sabres were Connor Chapman (4) and Callie McCulloch (2).  Warner assists went to Kolten Routley, Jayden Holland, and Jordan Wensveen.

Chinooks Coach Cory Anderson said afterward "It was a good game.  We played hard.  The kids came back from a 3 point deficit, and we had some good goaltending there.  Warner is a tough team, and we're going to have a good challenge tomorrow.  I'm just proud of them."
