Pincher Creek's Novice B Chinooks defeated Raymond 1 Ice in the first two games of a best of three Spud League final to win the 2014/15 Novice B Spud League playoff banner.  The Chinooks already won the league banner for the regular season, as well.

The Chinooks had an impressive first game against the Ice, with an 8-0 shutout at home in the MCC on Thursday March 12th. The Chinooks were coming off a hard fought series against Warner a week earlier that ended with the Chinooks winning both closely contested games. This blowout wasn't to be expected by either team, as when they played each other in the regular season they were much closer games, with one being tied at 6-6, and the other was a win for the Chinooks when they escaped a tie with a close game ending at 7-6. Raymond came out onto the ice confident that they could finally get that elusive win against the Chinooks, both teams played spot on defence allowing minimal shots, and no one was giving up any big chances. When the second period started it was a different story. The Chinooks struck early and often, including a buzzer beater with only 4 seconds left in the period.

Walker Anderson led the Chinooks in scoring with a hat trick and an assist. Walker is also the one who opened the scoring with his two goals early in the second period.  Both of those goals were also short handed. Jaydon Draper was right behind Walker with three goals as well.  He scored 2 of them while on the breakaway. Maddix Dyck scored a single goal on the powerplay and on an unassisted breakaway. Lane Conley also tallied a goal for the Chinooks. Chinooks goalie Bowen Hann walked away with a shutout, although he was tested after he had to make a few saves from close range and deal with a few big scrambles in front of the net.

On Saturday the Chinooks travelled to Raymond, where they defeated the Ice 8-4 to win the Spud League Novice B playoffs.

"This is a team that was never the standout to win," said Chinooks booster Jamie Anderson after the game.  "They played with heart and passion and just a little grit to do it."
