The Halton Boys Sr. Hawks put on a good show on Thursday February 26 in Pincher Creek when they hosted the Vulcan Hawks in a fairly even match up. Unfortunately the Halton Hawks were on the wrong side of that match up once again while facing Vulcan, losing 72-56.

This was the third time the Halton Hawks have had a close game playing this team. Halton can attribute this loss to their early game performance, not exactly hitting the ground running they gave up the first quarter, being outscored 16-7,  then picking it up a bit in the second but still behind Vulcan 21-16. The second half of the game is what the Halton Hawks need more of, they managed to pick up the pace significantly, although not showing on the scoresheet, still dropping the third 22-13. The late game play is where the Halton Hawks played their best basketball, they finally picked up the tempo and outplayed Vulcan to make it an actual basketball game, outscoring Vulcan 20-13 in the final quarter. Halton Hawks Coach Niki McNab said after the game that “ if they played with the same intensity that they had at the end of the game, they could win a lot more and they could have won this one".

Halton's Matthew Duncan may have had the best night of his season defensively and offensively.  He managed to score a team high 20 points in the game and continually blocked and stuffed shots all game long. Offensive leader Teigan Lissel didn't have as many points as he usually does, but he still was second in scoring with 12. Brayden Inaba of the Vulcan Hawks had a huge night, scoring 30 for his team. Brett Ully also scored 17 in Vulcan's win. Matthew Duncan and Liam Nazarek split the player of the game award for Halton while Brayden Inaba very deservingly took both of them for Vulcan.
