The Halton Hawks girls rugby club hosted Winston Churchill High School (Lethbridge) at Sproule Field on Thursday April 23rd for a rather lopsided game. Right from the opening kickoff the Hawks seemed to struggle against Churchill, not getting any significant offensive opportunity until after Churchill had scored 3 trys and converting on their first 3 point after kicks. Winston Churchill was very dominant both offensively and defensively, blanking the Hawks by a wide margin.

Hawks Coach Randy Whitehead said after the loss “It's still the beginning of the season, and there's still a lot to practice.  It's a younger team than we're used to with not as many seniors." Coach Whitehead also touched on the fact that because it is a younger team that he needs to teach some of them to start being more aggressive against the ball carriers. After watching the game Coach Whitehead said that in preparation for their next game they need to work on winning more scrums, as he thought that was one of the weakest parts of his teams game against Winston Churchill.

Although the Hawks didn't score any points in the match they still had a few good performances from their top players, Jayden Kennedy registered a few tackles and some good kicks. Taylor Wells also played a good defensive game before being pulled off the field with a possible concussion. Winston Churchill had a very productive game from a few different players, Abby Neudorf scored a total of 16 points for her team - 2 trys and 3 converts, while Jaela Borne was right behind her with 15 points for 3 trys.
