Alexia Boese and Gabe Gorner are two 6 year old cyclists from Pincher Creek who won brand new bicycles.  Close to 200 kids between the ages of 6 - 12 were 'caught and ticketed' and entered into the draw for a new bike because they were wearing their helmets while using their bicycles, skateboards, or roller skates during the Wear the Gear program that ran during the month of May.  The Wear the Gear program was held in partnership with Pincher Creek Emergency Services, Town of Pincher Creek Bylaw Services, and RCMP.

Both children were very excited at their prizes, which included a new bike and a new helmet each.  Gabe thought his bike looked tough and said, "I like the teeth, and stuff,"  Alexia was  also thrilled with how her bike looked, as it incorporated some of her favorite colours.  "I like sparkly, pink and purple."

Event Organizer Feist said with the success of this year's initiatives including the Wear the Gear program and the Bike Rodeo held on May 28, they plan to have another safety awareness drive in the spring and she appreciated the Town of Pincher Creek for donating the bicycles.
