Record high temperatures in Pincher Creek and other parts of Southern Alberta today


According to Environment Canada, eight new high temperature records were set in portions of Southern Alberta today, June 8, 2015.  Temperature values given in degrees Celsius:

  • Pincher Creek reached 29.8°, a nudge up from the previous record of  29.4° set in 1948 (records started in 1894).
  • Waterton Park Gate - new record 30.0°, old record 26.3° set in 1996, records started in 1966
  • Lethbridge - new record 33.4°, old record 32.8° set in 1948, records started in 1886 
  • Claresholm - new record of 32.0°, old record of 29.0 set in 1996, records started in 1952 
  • Drumheller - new record 34.9°, old record 32.8° set in 1977, records started in 1954 
  • Calgary International Airport - new record 31.9°, old record 31.1° set in 1948, records started in 1882 
  • Banff - new record 27.1°, old record 25.6° set in 1912, records started in 1893 
  • Vauxhall - new record 33.8°, old record 33.0° set in 1996, records started in 1914
Temperatures are expected to remain above normal into Thursday.
