Junior volleyball - Dragons host Flyers and Panthers

Junior A Dragons vs Panthers
Chris Davis

A long and exciting evening of volleyball began on October 15 with four junior teams competing at the Dale Wentz Memorial Gymnasium at St. Michael's School.  The Junior A Girls Dragons played Fort Macleod's F.P. Walshe Flyers, with the Flyers winning all three sets. The Junior A Boys Dragons played the Crowsnest Pass Panthers, with two of three sets going to the Dragons.  The boys teams were particularly well-matched in a fast paced game. Coaches are emphasizing teamwork and rudiments at this level, and both were on display this day.

Junior A Dragons vs Flyers
Junior volleyball is proving to be quite competitive this season, and these games were an example of that, with lots of good volleys on both courts, and likewise the number of well placed serves was nice to see.

I'm going to slip in a note of congratulations to the Matthew Halton Hawks Junior Girls, who we've not seen as much as we would have liked so far this season.  They're reportedly holding down second place in the league and came in second at their home tournament recently after perhaps surprising many opponents who weren't expecting such fierce opposition.
