Fraudulent phone calls reported in Pincher Creek

Pincher Creek RCMP

Some Pincher Creek Residents have received telephone calls from a man claiming to
be with Reader's Digest Sweepstakes. They are told they have won a sum of money and a new vehicle and then are asked to make a cash transfer to cover expenses.  If that is paid, another phone call is received requesting a higher sum to cover shipping the new vehicle.  These calls are fraudulent.

Reader's Digest does have a sweepstakes and winners are printed on their website and winners are not asked to pay any fees.

If you are contacted regarding this scam or any other you may report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center (CAFC) Toll Free at 1-888-495-8501 Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern time.
