Simone Forget, Pincher Creek Humane Society
Thanks to the generous coverage from the local media, the support of local businesses, the power of social media, and to the Co-op for providing a venue, we were able to serve hundreds of local residents in our first annual "Fill a Stocking for your Dog or Cat".
Over 55 boxes of new, high-quality dog and cat merchandise was donated to the Pincher Creek Humane Society by Lethbridge Petsmart, which was made available to the public. Amazingly, only 7 boxes remain (which has freed up valuable storage space at the shelter).
Hundreds of local dogs and cats in our local community will receive joy/warmth/nutrition in their Christmas stockings this year from the merchandise we were able to distribute
$6000.00 in donations was collected for the fencing project that will ultimately improve the quality of life for our shelter cats and dogs by giving them a backyard to walk, run and play in.
Because 10 adults and 10 youth contributed over 230 volunteer hours to the event, the cost to the Pincher Creek Humane Society was $0.00. That means that every dollar donated will help the animals directly.
Many local residents from the town and MD purchased or renewed their Humane Society memberships, and expressed interest in animal advocacy in the community (annual memberships are available at the Pincher Creek Humane Society for $5.00)
It's clear to us that the people of Pincher Creek and area have big hearts when it comes to their own pets, and to the animal welfare initiatives in the community - we can't thank them enough for their ongoing support.
Thanks for everything you did to make this happen!
