Pincher Creek's Senior Girls basketball team hosted Kainai's Warriors at the Matthew Halton High School gym on Monday evening, January 14. The game was very well attended, and very competitive and entertaining.
The Warriors came out strong in the first quarter, outscoring Pincher 12-4. Pincher rebounded in the second, outscoring the Warriors 9-8, and continuing their momentum into the third, catching up and tying the game 20-20 at one point. Pincher continued their surge, ending the quarter ahead 29-24. Kainai pulled out all the stops against a now tiring Pincher team and dominated the final quarter to win the game by a score of 42-32. Top scorer of the game was Kainai's Darcia Little Bear with 14 points, 8 of which came in the final quarter. Pincher Creek's Rebecca Lowry was right behind her with 13 points. Kainai's Jaidie Russell scored 10 points, and Maggie Russell scored 9 points. Pincher's other top scorers were Lucy Gerrand with 6 points and Olivia Citrigno with 5 points.
