JV Girls basketball: Flyers defeat Hawks

Chris Davis

Matthew Halton's JV* Girls Hawks hosted Fort Macleod's F.P. Walshe Flyers on Tuesday evening December 1 for a fast paced and physical basketball game.  That it was the beginning of the season was evident, but the enthusiasm of the athletes overcame that to give onlookers an entertaining show.  The Flyers won by a wide margin, but the Hawks didn't just hand it to them, playing hard right up to the final buzzer.  Lots of back and forth in this one.

The Flyers showed perseverance when it came to plugging away at rebounds, and that definitely helped them on the scoreboard.  They also mounted a very solid defence.  The Hawks did lots of things right, and already look to be contenders this season, despite the score in this game.
