Pincher Archery Club opens on Main Street

Christian Davis

A space formerly used as a nightclub and most recently as a second hand furniture store at 749 Main Street Pincher Creek has a new purpose now as the home of the Pincher Archery Club. The booths and the bar are gone, replaced by target ranges. The facility opened on January 1, and an open house was held on January 9.

According to club President Duane Filipuzzi, volunteers helped to get the room ready with a work bee in December. All ages are welcome to join, and membership includes a membership Archery Alberta. "If you are old enough to pull a bow back, you are old enough to start," said Filipuzzi. "It's a family sport."

"The idea behind the whole club is to promote a family sporting activity."

"With the full membership, you get a key, and you can come whenever you want."

Five families, and 3 individual club members were signed up, with more anticipated. "We have one certified coach who is a member, and there are a few other members who want to get their coaching certificate."
