Town of Pincher Creek agrees to assist with Robby Burns Fish Park funding

Toni Lucas

During the regular meeting of council for the Town of Pincher Creek on January 11, 2015 council reviewed a request from the Municipal District (MD) of Pincher Creek No. 9 to consider reimbursing the MD a portion of funding for maintenance of the Robby Burns Fish Pond Park. The facility is maintained by Pincher Creek's Royal Canadian Legion #43 and is used by seniors and people with handicaps for fishing, and is also open to the public for other uses such as picnics and photos. The letter from the MD stated the MD budgeted $2,500 for the park's maintenance in 2015.

Although the funding for Robby Burns Fish Park is traditionally a MD cost, the town agreed in January of 2014 to contributed $3668.36 for one half of the dock area installation and upgrades. Council unanimously agreed to reimburse the over budget funding to the sum of $1,066.42. Mayor Don Anderberg said "I full support all these groups. The Pincher Creek Legion takes care of this park on behalf of the MD of Pincher Creek, (they) do a great job down there."
