Matthew Halton U18 Soccer team starts season with wide margin win

Josh Davis

On Thursday April 28 the Matthew Halton U-18 Soccer team took to Sproule field, hosting their counterparts from the Crowsnest Pass for the first game of the season. Halton won a wide margin win. “I stopped counting after we got our third goal in the first few minute,” said Head Coach OndÅ™ej Soudek. “It was pretty good. But I heard that the Crowsnest Pass were missing three top players, so the next game is going to be different. Definitely tougher. We need to be ready.”

This is Soudek’s second year coaching at Halton, and he said that he has a lot of returning players. He said that his team needs to work on communication on the field, and playing on all of the field rather than just sticking to the center. However, on the whole he was happy with their performance. “I’m really proud of them. They did not stop playing even when we were leading 5 nothing.”

The Hawks next home game is scheduled for Thursday May 26. They are scheduled to play an away game on Wednesday May 4 in Cardston.
