Council for the Town of Pincher Creek made a number of decisions during the the regular meeting on Tuesday, May 24 about various upcoming parade invitations, and proclamations. Council accepted two parade invitations. The first was for Granum Canada Day Parade on Friday July 1, which Councillor Lorne Jackson volunteered to attend. The second was for the Bellcrest Days Parade on Saturday, June 18 which Councillor Wayne Elliott will attend.
Councillor Wayne Elliott informed council Prostate Cancer Day is Friday, June 17. 'Wear Plaid for Dad' is the theme and Elliott suggested councillors mark the day by wearing plaid to show their support.
Council recognized June is Recreation and Parks Month. One of the programs Pincher Creek will be promoting is the Active Living Challenge where teams from businesses groups, or banded individuals will take up the challenge to live healthier lifestyles and chart their progress. Council discussed forming their own team to show their dedication to the endeavour.
