RCMP find father and son deceased of natural causes on rural property near Claresholm
At 10:30 pm May 12, Claresholm RCMP responded to a missing person report submitted by the family of an 85-year old rancher, who was last seen in Claresholm on May 11.
Local police, fire department and search and rescue personnel immediately attended the missing man’s rural property located 15 kilometres southwest of Claresholm to search for him, after learning that he was in the habit of using an ATV to check on his livestock.
The missing man’s 60 year-old son joined in the search. At some point, the son, who was walking, set out on his own searching for his father. In the early hours of this morning, the son was found deceased by the search team on the property. Early indications are that he died as the result of a medical event. Police have engaged the Office of the Medical Examiner in determining cause of death.
After daybreak today, the missing father was also found deceased by first responders on another part of the property. Early indications are that he died of natural causes. Police have engaged the Medical Examiner in determining the cause of death.
The RCMP will not be releasing the deceased men’s names.
