Highway 3 has now been re-opened in both directions and the tractor trailer has been removed from the scene. The backlog of traffic took time to clear but is now flowing normally.

On this August long weekend, RCMP would like to remind motorists to take their time on Alberta Highways so everyone reaches their destination safely.

Original report:

Pincher Creek RCMP (15:06 pm)– RCMP are reporting a semi tractor trailer rollover collision on Highway 3, 100 metres west of Highway 507 in the Burmis area.

The semi is the sole vehicle involved, and the driver has sustained minor injuries. The damage is being contained and there is no environmental concern present.

Both directions of travel on Highway 3 are blocked by this collision and traffic is backing up. Emergency vehicles are on scene in an effort to clear this collision. It is anticipated that this will take at least three hours.

Motorists are encouraged to stay away from this area and find alternate routes of travel.

  1. I was there a few minutes after this accident occurred and passed the RCMP, Ambulance and Pincher EMS pickup that were coming west to the accident site. There were three vehicles stopped and one motorist took on the job of directing traffic to keep the traffic moving. He was doing a good job!
