Pincher powerlifters earn Gold at national event

Joe Stockinger, Landon Hochstein, and Allen Marr
submitted - Temple Fitness of Medicine Hat, Alberta hosted The Grind this past weekend, August 13, 2016. It is a 100% raw powerlifting competition. While powerlifting can come in many forms, the three main disciplines are the Squat, Bench Press and the Deadlift.

The day of the lift was presented with many coaches, competitors, support staff, judges, family, friends spectators, and Nerves.  The facility and staff of Temple Fitness were both friendly as well as professional. They greeted you with a smile and a warm welcome.

Throughout the day many National and world records were broken.

From the Pincher Creek area was none other than world famous Joe Stockinger (coach and holder of many records), Allen Marr (who currently lives in Sundre AB), and Landon Hochstein.

Gold for Landon Hochstein

Gold for Allen Marr

At their first competition both Allen and Landon set three new National records each in their respective age and weight classes, which resulted in Gold medals for both.

While competitive weight lifting takes discipline in many areas, doing it for fun increases self belief, physical fitness and a new community of friends.
