Joyful noise

Chris Ney - Have you ever been to a concert or gathering where there is music being played and the people around you are singing and someone you can’t find is just bellowing, I mean at the top of their lungs just singing out so loud that you are distracted. The funny thing is that I have been that guy, I have been the guy that didn’t care about anyone around and just sang as loud as I can. It certainly was not a joyful noise, but it was a noise for sure. It was when I first understood who Jesus was and what He did for me and I was so happy I didn’t care who was there or what they thought. I was full of joy and it felt like there wasn’t anyone else there. In all of that others thought it wasn’t great but I thought I was making such a wonderful singer.

I began then to realize that it wasn’t what others thought that mattered it was where the heart was and my heart was making a joyful noise. The truth is I wish I would come across more people who didn’t care about what others thought, but just desired above all else to make a joyful noise to the Lord. That might sound weird but God actually says that in Psalm 95:1 “Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!” We are called to make a joyful noise in all that we do not just in gatherings but in all aspects of our lives. I know in my life it isn’t always easy but it is always helpful.

The beautiful thing is that no matter what we are going through there can be joy, there can be happiness; not because of anything we have done but because of what Jesus has done, He has done all the work and carried all the price for all the wrong things we have every done or will ever do. All He asks is that we believe in Him, acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior and ask Him for forgiveness for all of our mess. He promises to forgive us and then adopt us as His children for eternity. What a reason for joy, we can have hope of eternity, joy of salvation, and know love that is beyond anything we can know apart from knowing Him.

If you are looking for family to connect with I would love to invite you to join us at Vertical Church @10:30 each Sunday morning to join us and see where real joy comes from.
