It is Christmas

Chris Ney - What an exciting time of year when we get to spend time with family and sit around the fire. It is time to put hurts away and forgive each other, and to do your best to see the good in people. I have always loved Christmas time, my family would draw together and demonstrate love and as a kid even more then that I loved the presents. What happen though? What is Christmas now?

One thing I have noticed is how much Christmas has changed for me, and my family. We still do presents and watch all the Santa Clause movies and Elf oh about 900 times or at least it feels like that; and in all the cheer and joy we don’t stay focused on what is passing by but what is important. We spend some time gathered around the tree and open our few presents but then we focus on things that matter. More so the real one thing that matters at this time of year and it is the birth of Jesus.

This is the time of year where we slow down and reflect on a time where God gave us His one and only son, in the form of a baby in manger. The God who created us all loved us so much that He came to earth in the form of a helpless baby, and of all things for Him to be born in a feeding trough for animals. It gets me every time I think about what He gave up in that moment to come here and be the Savior of the world; in fact what we really remember is that not only did He come for the world but He came for each and everyone of us personally. It usually takes a moment for it to settle in and realize in the quiet just what that means.

It means that you are important, it means you are valued, and it means above all that can and does happen here on earth there is a God above who absolutely loves you unconditionally. He gave His life for you and wants to have a relationship with you. What we need to do is ask Him for forgiveness, and believe that God raised Him from the dead and we will be in relationship with Him.

If you are looking for somewhere to meet people who are not perfect and no masks then I would like to invite you out Sunday morning @ 10:30am at Vertical Church. We would also like to invite you to join us on Dec 23 at 7pm for our first Christmas in Pincher. There will be Christmas Carols, story and food and Starbucks coffee for everyone. Come and enjoy this season with us.

You are Loved!
