Geese poached within Fort Macleod town limits

On December 29, 2012 the Fort Macleod RCMP received a report of multiple dead geese in a field off of 18 Street to the North East of 8 Avenue in Fort Macleod, AB. Police attended the scene and located five dead Canada Geese near the ongoing infrastructure construction site within the Towns limits. The birds had been shot and the carcasses left in a pile. The hunting season for Canada Geese ended on December 21, 2012, and it is believed that the birds had been shot and left after this date.

The Fort Macleod RCMP is investigating this Poaching and ask that any members of the public with information regarding this incident contact Cst. J. D. SMITH of the Fort Macleod RCMP detachment at 403-553-7200 or share their information with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
