My name is Bruce Kirby and I am the club reporter for the Chinook 4-H multi club.

The projects that we have this year are Swine, Shooting Sports, Small Motors, Horsemanship Project, and Creative Options.

We started the year in October with our first general meeting. Some of the highlights of the year so far have been decorating Vista Village for Christmas and a float in the local Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights in November. In December we had a gift exchange and a district fun day.

In January we were busy with regular meetings and in February completed our public speaking competition. The results were:

  • First Junior Presentation: Jaxon Hammond
  • Second Junior Presentation: Taylor Deley and Sarah Kirby
  • Third Junior Presentation: Logan Deley
  • First Junior Prepared Speech: Tanner Wallace
  • Second Junior Prepared Speech: Brooke Hammond
  • Third Junior Prepared Speech: Aiden Bustard
  • First Intermediate Presentation: Bruce Kirby and Ryan Higginbotham
  • First Senior Presentation:  Ashley Higginbotham
  • First Intermediate Speech: Tyler Monk
  • Second Intermediate Speech: Bryce Crawford
  • First Senior Prepared Speech:  Tyler Higginbotham

The first and second place winners moved on to district level held in the Foothills Church. Ryan Higinbotham and I placed second and moved onto Regionals.

We competed against other members from the southern region and did not place. We look forward to achievement day where we will be showcasing our projects at the beginning of June and showing and selling our pigs on June 3 at the Horseshoe pavillion.

We hope to see you all there!
