The third annual Piikani Youth Council Aboriginal Day Powwow was held June 20/21 at Crowlodge Park.  The event coincided with the summer solstice (June 21 at 4:51 am*), a traditional time of celebration for human beings stretching back to before our recorded histories.  There were Grand Entries both days, and numerous dancing and drumming competitions with over over $15,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.  A ban on alcohol and drugs was strictly enforced, resulting in a safe and familial atmosphere inside the spectacular Crowlodge Park facility.

The event drew more than 100 dancers and drummers from various Blackfoot tribes, and was organized by Piikani Child and Family Services Youth Worker Leland English. Trevor Kiitokii was the MC for much of the events of the weekend.
