Festivus Games held at Crossfit Pincher Creek

Josh Davis

On Saturday October 17 the Festivus Games came to Pincher Creek, held at Crossfit. This worldwide functional fitness competition invited novice and intermediate athletes to compete in a variety of events, from wall walks, rowing and pull-ups to burpees, squats, and deadlifts, aiming to get the greatest number of reps within a time limit. New to the third annual competition was the fourty-five and older masters division. Around 35 local athletes with a wide age range attended the event.

Medals were awarded to the top athletes in each category. Grace Ruzek won the first place in the Female Novice category, Sean Cassidy in the Male Intermediate category, and Colleen Brady in the Female Intermediate category. Neil Lamont was the top male in the Masters category, and Robin Riddle was the top female in the Masters category. Roland Milligan and Kim Civiero were each granted Spirit Awards.
