Midgets and Bantams move to robust CAHL

The Bantams and the Midget Huskies will be playing in the Central Alberta Hockey League (CAHL) this season, instead of the SPUD league. It will be a much more challenging league for the team to play in. The rosters for Bantams and Midgets this year will again include Crowsnest Pass and Pincher Creek members.

The Midget Huskies will be in the CAHL Midget Tier 3 East. Lots of travel. They'll be up against teams from Taber, Medicine Hat, Warner, Oyen, Picture Butte, Lomond, Drumheller, Duchess, Bow Island/Foremost, and two teams from Lethbridge (Red and Black). Some familiar opponents and some new ones, with big reputations. The Midget schedules have been released, and up first is a four-weekend tiering round, with crossovers and other games allowed but no tournaments allowed until seeding is completed.

CNP/Pincher Creek Midgets have a home game scheduled for Saturday October 17, starting at 7:00 pm in the Crowsnest Sports Complex at 8702-22 Avenue in Coleman, (403-562-8877) against Lethbridge Black. Then it's away the next day, Sunday October 18 for a 3:30 pm puck drop at the Taber Arena (map) . They'll bring it back home to Pincher Creek's Memorial Community Centre (MCC) Arena (867 Main Street Pincher Creek, 403-627-4354) to host Lethbridge Red on Saturday October 24. Puck drops at 6:00 pm for that one.  The Midgets will also host a tiering round game at the MCC on October 31, starting at 6:00 versus a currently unknown opponent.

Here's the CAHL website:

Bantam and Midget teams will be using the Crowsnest and Pincher rinks as home ice.

Installation of a new ice plant at Pincher Creek's Memorial Community Centre Arena caused a slight delay to the beginning of the local 2015/16 hockey season.

Stay tuned for scheduling additions and changes as they come in.

Piikani sports complex under construction

RHL update

Piikani's arena won't be done in time for this season.  At last report they will be using Pincher Creek's arena as home rink this season.

The Ranchland Hockey League (RHL) has added Piikani and Eden Valley to a lineup that also still includes Fort Macleod's Mustangs, Kainai's Braves, and Nanton's Palominos, who were the Hockey Alberta Senior AA Provincials champions last season. It's scheduled to be a 20 game season.  The Palominos are celebrating 70 years this season, and will be hosting Senior AA Provincials March 26 - 29.

Piikani's arena will be here next year
Tryouts for the Piikani Senior Men's team will start on Saturday, October 10th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Adams Ice Centre in Lethbridge.
