Westwinds Boys Volleyball – Sabres host Panthers

On Wednesday October 28 the Crowsnest Pass Panthers JV and SV boys volleyball teams played against Livingstone’s Sabres at Livingstone High School in Lundbreck. The JV Sabres won their first two sets against the Panthers. However, the Panthers showed their real potential in the third set, earning their own win. The SV Sabres won three out of four sets.

The JV Sabres traded evenly with the Panthers for the first ten points of the first set. The Sabres lost the ball as a result of outs early in the set. However, they pulled it together, and gained a large lead, ultimately winning the set 25-14.

The Sabres gained a slight lead early into the second set. There attacking and blocking has been good all season, and this game was no exception. The Sabres won this set 25-14.

The Panthers demonstrated better blocking in the third set. They traded evenly with the Sabres for the first eight points, before developing a lead. The Sabres caught them up at eighteen points, but stopped there. The Panthers won this set 25-18.

The SV Sabres had no contest in their first set, winning 25-8

In the second set, the Panthers showed great improvement. Attacking is one of the Sabres strengths, but the Panthers completed a lot of digs, extending their rallies. The Sabres won this set 25-16.

The Panthers weren’t ready to give up yet, and gained an early lead in the third set. The Sabres nearly caught up towards the middle of the set, but the Panthers ultimately won 25-18.

Both teams were in it to win it in the fourth set, and though the Sabres gained the lead three times early in it, both teams were tied by eleven points. The Panthers gained their own lead then, but were caught up at seventeen points. The Sabres took the lead a fourth time, winning the set 25-18.
