Blue-green algae advisories lifted in South Zone

SOUTH ZONE – Recent weather has cooled lake and reservoir water temperatures to such an extent that blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) is no longer a concern, including in three bodies of water in South Zone, all of which had previously been placed under blue-green algae bloom advisories.

Effective immediately, Alberta Health Services has lifted the blue-green algae bloom advisories for:

  • Bullshead Reservoir (near Medicine Hat)
  • Chain Lakes Reservoir (near Pincher Creek)
  • Henderson Lake (in the city of Lethbridge)
As always, visitors and residents are reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any lake or reservoir, at any time.
