Amber Alert cancelled, no charges expected (update)

RCMP Alberta

During the early morning hours of December 23, 2015, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP received notification from the husband of Monaliza Marion, of Fort Saskatchewan, that he had awakened about 4:00 a.m. to find that she had departed the home with three children aged 3, 12 and 14.

At the time of reporting, the information received by the RCMP did not give rise to the belief that the mother or children were at any risk, but an investigation into the missing mother and children was immediately undertaken. As investigators continued the investigation yesterday and today, by late this morning they had received new information and came to the conclusion that there was cause for concern about the health of the mother and the medical needs of at least one of the children. As a result, an Amber Alert was immediately issued.

At about noon today, Monaliza Marion, having heard the Amber Alert immediately contacted police and the RCMP, with the assistance of the Calgary Police Service were able to locate Monaliza Marion, and her children, safe and sound in Calgary. There are no criminal charges anticipated as a result of this event.
