Peewee Chinooks play close game at home

Josh Davis - On Saturday, December 5 the Pincher Creek Peewee Chinooks faced off against Bow Island's Rebels. The game was very close until the third period, when the Rebels consolidated their lead, winning 7-3.

The Chinooks # 6 Riley Potts scored the first goal of the game less than a minute into it, assisted by #11 Tristan Blood. However, with 16:18 left on the clock #12 Kaige Stebanuk scored a goal for the Rebels. The Chinooks passing game had improved significantly from previous games, and they were looking very even with the Rebels throughout the period. However, with ten seconds left on the clock Stebanuk scored a second goal for the Rebels, gaining a 2-1 lead.

Each team scored a single goal in the second period. #12 Alex Comeau scored for the Chinooks, assisted by #5 Logan Deley. For the Rebels #5 Clay Dixon scored a single goal unassisted. Though the Rebels had protected their lead, the game was far from over.

However, in the third period, the Rebels scored four goals to the Chinooks one, winning the game. Potts was assisted in his single goal for the Chinooks by #9 Cade Ames. For the Rebels #4 Kade Degenstein, #15 Dominic Wyllie, #7 Jaxon Pahl, and #6 each scored on goal. The Rebels spent 19 minutes in the penalty box throughout the game to the Chinooks 4.

Next weekend there will be a Peewee Hockey Tournament hosted at the MCC Arena in Pincher Creek. Come down and show your support to the Peewee Chinooks. 

Bantam Huskies receive new jerseys

Josh Davis - The Crowsnest Pass/Pincher Creek Bantam hockey team has been officially named the Huskies. The Bantams were in their new Huskies jerseys on Saturday, December 5, when they hosted the Okotoks Oilers. The Huskies were in great form on Saturday, winning their game against the Oilers 6-1.

The Chinooks #9 Spencer Dorge scored the only goal of the first period, assisted by #2 Easton Fitzpatrick. The Chinooks goaltender, #1 Wesley Krampe, was making great saves throughout the game, and this helped the Huskies keep their impressive lead.

In the second period the Huskies scored three goals: one by #8 Jace Lewis, assisted by Fitzpatrick, one by #7 Matthew Merritt, assisted by #4 Sam Jordan, and one in the final seconds of the period by Dorge assisted by #18 Lyndon Ewen.

The # 4 Dominic Miller scored the Oilers' only goal of the game in the first few minutes of the third period. Ewen also scored a goal of his own assisted by Jordan and Dorge during a power play. Dorge then scored his third goal of the game in this period unassisted.

Novice Chinooks play two games at home

Josh Davis - On Sunday, December 6 the Pincher Creek Novice Chinooks played an exciting game against the Crowsnest Pass Thunder. All three periods were close, with the Thunder ultimately winning 5-3.

The Thunder and the Chinooks are well matched teams, and halfway through the first period there were still no goals for either side. The Thunder scored two goals in this period, one by #11 Luke Gudmundson, and one by #16 Zack Uphill. The Chinooks came close a few times, and kept pressure on the Thunder's goaltender, but didn't score a goal in this period.

The Chinooks tied things up in the second period, scoring two goals of there own. One was by #16 Walker Anderson, assisted by #19 Hunter Littlebear. The other was by #17 Cashe Kropinak, assisted by #24 Carter North Peigan.

However, in the third period the Thunder scored three goals to the Chinooks single goal. Two of the Thunder's goals were scored by Luke Gudmundson, with on scored by Zack Uphill. The Chinooks single goal was scored by Cashe Kropinak unassisted.

Earlier in the day the novice Chinooks were defeated 10-6 in their game against Foremost. On Saturday they were defeated by the Raymond 1 Ice 8-6.

Update on the Midget Huskies and Atom Chinooks

Chris and Josh Davis - The Pincher Creek Atom Chinooks were defeated in both of their home games against the Irvine Bulldogs over the weekend. On Saturday, December 5 they were defeated 9-3. On the following day, Sunday December 6, they were defeated again, 11-2.

The Midget Huskies have a 4 wins / 3 losses record so far this season, placing them approximately mid-pack in Tier 1 of the CAHL.  They defeated Cochrane 6-4 on December 4 at the MCC.  Scoring for the Huskies in that game were Sam Gerrand, Levi Anderson (twice), Eligh Big Bull, Craig Marshall, and Jason Creighton.  Anderson also earned two assists.  Other assists went to Huskies Tyson Goodreau, Jesson Luco, Austin Kristjanson, Brandt Sabo, and Eligh Big Bull.  The penalty-filled third period was scoreless in that one.  The Huskies are scheduled to play at the Crowsnest Sports Complex in Blairmore twice next weekend hosting Canmore both times,  On Saturday beginning at 4:30 pm and on Sunday December 13 beginning at noon.
