Fort Macleod to participate in regional transportation study, Cowley declines

Christian Davis

The Town of Pincher Creek's Transportation Committee recently invited the Village of Cowley and the Town of Fort Macleod to "collaborate and participate" in a regional transportation study. Fort Macleod responded affirmatively and Cowley declined the invitation.

At their December 14, 2015 meeting council for the Town of Fort Macleod resolved that the council "direct administration to express an interest in participating in the transportation study as requested by Pincher Creek Town Council".

In a letter dated January 20, 2016 the Village of Cowley informed Mayor and council for the Town of Pincher Creek that the village will not be participating in the study. According to the letter, signed by village CAO Cindy Cornish, the Village of Cowley council passed the following resolution at their January 19, 2016 Council meeting: "That the Council of Village of Cowley is not interested at this time in participating in a collaborative transportation study as they foresee no financial or promotional benefit to the Village."Related stories:
